Use In The Wild for learning, lawfully.
By using the In The Wild web app or extension, you agree to use content you have the right to access, protect your account, and treat parser, dictionary, translation, pronunciation, and Review output as learning aids that can be improved over time.

Using In The Wild
The rules that apply while reading, looking up, translating, and saving Mandarin.
Use of the Product
In The Wild helps learners read Mandarin, save useful words, and practice from real context. You are responsible for the text you submit, save, translate, or import and for using the product lawfully. Do not use In The Wild to violate another person's rights, break applicable law, or interfere with the product's security or operation.
Chrome Extension
The current In The Wild: Mandarin Chinese extension is the capture layer for local Mandarin lookup, explicit selected-text translation, and vocabulary saving. Do not use it to collect information you do not have the right to use, bypass access controls, or submit sensitive third-party information that is not needed for your Mandarin study. Chrome may prevent the extension from running on browser-managed or restricted pages.
Translations And Learning Aids
Public Library Readings, translations, pinyin, dictionary results, parser output, pronunciation, known-word estimates, and Review scheduling are language-learning aids. They may be incomplete, incorrect, unavailable, or improved over time. Selected-text translation is processed as described in the Privacy Policy.
Optional Anki Delivery
If you choose Anki, In The Wild saves the contextual item to your account first and the extension can separately deliver it to local Anki Desktop through AnkiConnect after you grant localhost permission. A failed Anki delivery does not erase the In The Wild save, and an Anki save is not proof that a word is known.

How sign-in, saved source context, improvement choices, and deletion work together.
Accounts
Account features require a valid email sign-in. Keep your account access private, use the same intended account in the extension and web app, and contact support if you believe your account has been compromised.
Saved Content And Source Context
When you mine vocabulary or save Reading progress, you authorize In The Wild to store and process the saved text, dictionary data, source URL, page title, source sentence, Collection membership, and related learning state so the product can sync Backpack and Review and remember where a word appeared. You remain responsible for the material you choose to save.
Help In The Wild Improve
If Help In The Wild improve is on in Settings, eligible saved source sentences and mined vocabulary context may be evaluated to improve dictionary and parser quality after privacy checks and review. Turning it off stops new contribution capture without removing the private vocabulary save from your account.
Privacy And Deletion
Privacy rights, data categories, Chrome extension data use, selected-text translation, and deletion requests are described in the Privacy Policy. Contact support@mandarinthewild.com for account, deletion, or privacy requests. Signed-in users can also delete their account and linked learning data from Settings.

Current beta, availability, billing, disclaimer, and policy-change boundaries.
Early Beta And Paid Plans
In The Wild is currently an early beta product. Features, content coverage, parser behavior, extension behavior, analytics, account workflows, and service availability may change. Paid plan terms must be added before billing or subscription features launch.
Availability And Termination
We may suspend access, remove content, limit a feature, or stop part of the service when needed to protect users, comply with law, fix product issues, or enforce these terms. You may stop using the product at any time and request deletion of account data.
No Warranties
The product is provided as-is for language learning. We do not guarantee that every translation, pronunciation, parser result, Review schedule, source context, extension action, or service connection will be complete, available, or error-free.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the product moves from early public beta toward paid plans, larger content coverage, a formal business entity, or broader legal requirements. The updated date at the top identifies the current public version.
